How Apple Is Changing Global Wellness Forever
It’s more than just technology or fancy hardware. With its dizzying array of health and wellness apps and new devices like the iPad, Apple is completely changing how we live and the role health and wellness play in our lives. The Technology Revolution may be the biggest catalyst for the Global Wellness Revolution we’ve seen yet.
For many people, it can be a difficult concept to grasp, the idea that something as organic and natural as health and wellness could actually be driven by mankind and its infinite capacity to push the technological envelope. But that’s exactly what’s happening now as Web 2.0 and meets social media.
Global information sharing on every conceivable topic is exploding as cultures everywhere begin to realize the power of publishing at their own fingertips, in the airport or coffee shop, riding the bus or train home, spending as little as just a few seconds to reach the world. Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, LinkedIn, Digg, and hundreds of other social media tools are enabling everyone on the planet to network like never before.
In the communications hardware arena, perhaps none is having a greater influence than Apple. Whether you’re talking about iPod, iTouch, iPhone, iMac, and now the iPad, or any one of many other company revolutionary devices, each in its own way is transforming popular culture and the essence of how we communicate. This is especially true with the young people who seem to have created an existence around “syncing” all of the aspects of their life into a technological “hub” of connectivity.
What does this all mean? It means that Apple apps and technology and their viral nature of spreading global health and wellness information is exploding at a record pace. We’re learning about different conditions, natural remedies, chat rooms, forums, health blogs and so on in minutes and seconds from our own personal space, wherever that happens to be, no matter how remote. Each of us is quickly becoming a health and wellness expert in our own right. With the launch of the new iPad, that information now becomes even more mobile and more easily accessed. Will the medical profession ultimately become obsolete? Sounds ridiculous, right? Makes you wonder.

Technology is definitely making an impact, pretty much everywhere. Wellness is no exception. I found my 9 year old son doing jumping jacks the other day. He was being timed by a new app he had downloaded to his ipod touch, but the novelty wore off quickly. When they invent an app for doing homework he’ll be in heaven!
